Poltergeist

A poltergeist haunting, according to folklore and popular belief, refers to a type of supernatural phenomenon characterized by disruptive and often noisy interactions with the physical environment. The term itself originates from German, meaning "noisy ghost". Moving or throwing objects (sometimes with great force), knocking sounds on walls or furniture, slamming doors, lights turning on and off, appliances malfunctioning. Unexplained noises (shrieks, voices, cackling), unpleasant odors without a source (like pipe tobacco when no one smokes), sudden changes in temperature or the feeling of a thick, heavy atmosphere. Malfunctioning phones and electrical equipment are also reported. While less common than with traditional ghosts, some poltergeists are described as having the ability to manifest as full or partial bodied apparitions, or as dark mist or shadows. Destructive and mischievous: Poltergeists are known for their destructive nature and tendency towards mischief and even violence. Often associated with a specific person: Typically, poltergeist activity is reported to be focused on one individual, often an adolescent or someone experiencing emotional upheaval. The phenomenon is said to follow this person if they move, according to some believers. Initially, disturbances may be minor (like a picture falling), but they can escalate over time to more disruptive and even dangerous events (throwing objects with force, starting fires, inflicting physical harm). While some cases are reported to last for years, poltergeist activity is generally thought to be relatively short-lived, lasting for a few months before ceasing. It's important to note that poltergeist hauntings remain a subject of debate, with believers attributing them to supernatural forces and skeptics seeking rational explanations.
