Fort Laramie National Site, Ft. Laramie
Fort Laramie National Historic Site in Wyoming is rumored to be haunted, with unexplained sounds and scents reported by staff and visitors. Its long history as a 19th-century fur trading post, military installation, and key hub for westward expansion has led to numerous ghost stories and reports of paranormal activity. The fort's most famous ghost is a woman in a green dress. Park employee Chance Stoner says that while he has not seen the ghost himself, he has heard stories of the Green Lady from others. Stoner has personally experienced phenomena he cannot explain. He reports occasionally hearing the sound of shuffling cards after closing up the Officers' Club for the night, even though no one is inside. On occasion, staff have reported smelling pipe tobacco and rosewater without a source. The scent of rosewater may be connected to the ghost of the woman in the green dress.
