The Wyoming Frontier Prison is considered the most haunted place in Wyoming due to frequent reports of spectral apparitions, a malevolent spirit in the dungeon, and a famous legend of a "Pie Lady" avenged by her murder. Visitors have described feeling pressure and anxiety, as well as seeing ghostly reflections and scenes of violence, leading the prison to be featured on the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures. Visitors and employees have witnessed apparitions and captured orbs on camera, particularly in the cell blocks. A malevolent spirit is said to menace those who enter certain sections of the dungeon. Guests climbing stairs to the "Dead House" have reported feelings of pressure on their chests and overwhelming anxiety. A popular local legend tells of a woman known as the "Pie Lady" who brought pies to inmates. A freed inmate later murdered her, was returned to the prison, and found hanged days later. Some visitors claim to see the ghostly scene of his punishment at the hands of fellow inmates. The prison housed some of the West's most violent inmates and featured rampant violence, botched hangings, and a gas chamber. The notoriety of the prison's hauntings led to an appearance on an episode of the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures.
