Pioneers Rest Cemetery, Canton
Pioneers Rest Cemetery (Bandli Graveyard) in Canton, WI, is reportedly haunted by a variety of paranormal phenomena, including the spirits of a man who murdered his family, a woman killed while escaping slavery, and children's voices. Visitors have reported seeing apparitions and hearing disembodied conversations. Some stories also suggest the site was once used by a Satanic cult for rituals in the barn next to the graveyard. One legend claims a man killed his wife and four children before hanging himself in his barn, which is situated near the cemetery. A separate story tells of a female former slave, allegedly shot by hunting dogs while escaping slavery through Henry's Valley, near the cemetery. She is believed to be buried near a large oak tree outside the cemetery fence. There are also claims that the barn adjacent to the graveyard was historically used by a Satanic cult for religious ceremonies. The cemetery is said to have a large number of orphaned children buried there, and their voices and sounds of play are supposedly heard at night. Visitors have reported capturing apparitions in photos, even in daylight, and hearing voices, talking, and children's laughter during nighttime visits.
