Maribel Hotel, Maribel
The Maribel Caves Hotel, now the Maribel Caves Hotel ruins, is considered one of Wisconsin's most haunted locations due to alleged paranormal activity, including sightings of ghosts walking the hallways, a shadow moving between windows, and eerie sounds in the nearby caves. Legends connect the hauntings to the hotel's history, with stories of Al Capone's men using it as a speakeasy, a possible portal to hell opened by witches, and the appearance of a barefoot little girl in a black dress. Locals have reported seeing supernatural ghosts walking up and down the hallways and a shadow bouncing from window to window. A legend claims black witches performed satanic rituals near the caves, which opened a gate to hell, releasing evil spirits. A white witch is said to have performed a ritual to bind these spirits, which are believed to haunt the woods. Visitors have heard moaning, laughter, and eerie singing, possibly coming from the caves. Some people have reported seeing hooves, a spectral carriage, or a bright white light in the area. An apparition of a barefoot little girl in a black dress has been seen going up and down stairs.
