The Virginia Quilt Museum, housed in the historic Warren Sipe House, is rumored to be haunted by Major Joseph Wladimir, a 19-year-old Confederate soldier who died there after being used as a Civil War hospital. Alleged sightings include his apparition at the top of the stairs or walking in front of an upstairs window. The museum is also reportedly a site for experiencing "footsteps of those who worked there years ago". The Ghost of Major Wladimir: Major Joseph Wladimir, nicknamed the "boy major," was a 19-year-old Confederate soldier. He died in the building while it was being used as a makeshift Civil War hospital after the Battle of Gettysburg. Some claim to see his ghostly figure at the top of the stairs, sometimes in his uniform. Neighbors have also reported seeing him walking in front of an upstairs window. Some people have reported hearing the sounds of footsteps from people who worked in the building years ago.
