Rosewell Plantation, Gloucester
Rosewell Plantation is believed to be haunted due to its tragic history and the spectral phenomena reported by visitors, including disembodied voices, sudden temperature drops, and the appearance of ghostly apparitions like the "Lady in Red" walking the grounds or descending the ruins of the grand staircase. These reports range from harpsichord music and the spectral guiding of guests by lantern-carrying figures to the presence of enslaved people's spirits, possibly buried in the cellar. Visitors report hearing disembodied voices, music from a harpsichord or violin, and the sounds of slaves working in the fields. Ghostly figures are often seen, including a woman in a red cloak and a woman in blue colonial attire, as well as figures of slaves and men carrying lanterns. Reports include sudden drops in temperature, bone-chilling cold, and electrical snaps. Some visitors have experienced their recording devices being mysteriously turned off, and a mysterious black car with old license plates has been reported on the grounds.
