Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA, is the setting for numerous ghost stories, most famously the "Richmond Vampire" legend, which is tied to the mausoleum of W. W. Pool. Other reported phenomena include sounds of moaning and cold spots near the Confederate Pyramid, and the ghost of a little girl and her dog near their grave monument, the Iron Dog, which is guarded by a cast-iron statue. The Richmond Vampire: The legend says a creature from the Church Hill Tunnel fled into the W. W. Pool mausoleum in the cemetery. This is linked to the W. W. Pool mausoleum. Some reports claim the tombstone's two W's resemble fangs, and others say the legend began circulating in the 1960s. Confederate Pyramid: People have reported hearing soft moans and feeling cold spots around this 90-foot monument, which was built in 1869 to honor Confederate soldiers. The ghost of a young girl who died at the age of three from scarlet fever is said to play with a dog late at night by her grave. The grave where this little girl is buried is marked by the "Iron Dog," a cast-iron statue of a Newfoundland dog, one of the cemetery's well-known monuments. In addition to these well-known stories, some also believe a ghost dog, a wizard poltergeist, and even hallucinations haunt the cemetery.
