Green Mountain Inn, Stowe
The Green Mountain Inn in Stowe, VT is reportedly haunted by the ghost of Boots Berry, a former inn employee who became a local hero after saving passengers from a runaway stagecoach but was later dismissed for drinking. His spirit is said to be heard as the stomping of boots on the roof during storms, particularly when the sound of his boots on the roof is heard. Boots Berry's bravery is said to have been demonstrated when he saved lives during a stagecoach accident. After being dismissed from his job for drinking, he fell from a high place, possibly above room 302, during a storm. Guests and locals report hearing the sound of heavy boots stomping on the roof, especially during stormy weather. Some also hear faint music, which could be related to the tapping sounds from the legend.
