According to guest reports, the Marble Mansion Inn in Fair Haven, Vermont, is believed to be haunted by a former owner and by the spirits of children. Guests have shared stories of paranormal activity, including spectral apparitions and the sounds of disembodied children. The most frequently sighted spirit is reportedly a former owner, described as a man in a gray suit. Guests claim to have seen him: Standing at the foot of their bed. Appearing in their room late at night, watching them sleep. As a shadowy figure moving quickly out of the corner of their eye. Other reports from guests include hearing the sounds of children running and playing in the halls. This is noted to occur even when no children are registered at the inn. The Marble Mansion Inn is a 22-room French Second Empire mansion built in 1867 by prominent businessman Ira C. Allen.
