San Fernando Cathedral, San Antonio
San Fernando Cathedral is reportedly haunted by spirits connected to the Battle of the Alamo and other historical events, with claimed sightings including shadowy figures, ghostly monks, and glowing orbs in photos. In the 1930s, workers found bones and uniforms believed to be from Alamo soldiers, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the site. Other paranormal experiences reported by visitors include unexplained cold spots, spectral faces, and a famous 2007 photo allegedly showing an apparition kissing a skull. Visitors have reported seeing dark shapes or silhouettes moving within the church. Some accounts describe hooded, monk-like figures appearing in the shadows. Glowing orbs, some the size of a fist, are often seen in photographs and are thought to be spirits of Alamo defenders. Others have seen disembodied faces within the cathedral. A 2007 Halloween photograph captured a purported image of a spirit kissing a skull on a marble sarcophagus, which visitors have described as having a ghostly chill. During renovations in 1936, workers discovered bones and military uniforms that may have belonged to soldiers from the Battle of the Alamo.
