Lake Worth Castle, Fort Worth
The "Lake Worth Castle," also known as the Castle of Heron Bay or Whiting Castle, is rumored to be haunted by a "Brooding Shadow" and a "Woman in White". The Shadow is thought to be the son of a former owner who died on the property, while the Woman in White is believed to be a bride who drowned in Lake Worth on her wedding day. The castle, built in the 1930s by Samuel Whiting, was once an illegal casino with secret tunnels, adding to its spooky lore. A phantom of a young man, possibly the son of a previous owner, is said to haunt the castle. The Woman in White: This apparition is believed to be the ghost of a bride who drowned in Lake Worth. She is said to run from the lake to the property and back again. The site was originally a farmhouse dating back to 1860.
