Hotel Galvez, Galveston
The Grand Galvez is known for several spirits, most notably the "Ghost Bride," a woman said to have died in the west turret after her fiancé was lost at sea, and the spirits of the drowned orphans and nuns from the 1900 Storm who were found on the hotel's beach. Paranormal activity includes cold spots, flickering lights, disembodied voices, moving objects, and phantom children or orbs of light. The hotel features tours and a Bride Ball to acknowledge its haunted reputation. The Ghost Bride: Legend says a young woman hanged herself in the west turret in the mid-1900s after hearing her fiancé had died at sea. She has reportedly been seen in the west turret and Room 501. Spirits from the 1900 Storm: The storm killed many children and nuns from St. Mary's Orphans Asylum, whose bodies washed ashore near the hotel's location. Guests and investigators report feeling sudden chills, hearing children laughing, seeing phantom children, and experiencing phenomena like doors slamming and items moving. General Paranormal Activity: Flickering lights and TVs turning on and off. Objects moving on their own, such as dishes breaking. Disembodied whispers and the sound of breathing or laughter. Orbs of light and cold spots. A little girl seen playing with a ball.
