The historic Ott Hotel in Liberty, TX is described as a reportedly haunted location with a history of unusual activity since its opening in 1928, including unexplained touches, moving furniture, and a purported "portal" where paranormal activity is concentrated. More than 20 deaths occurred at the hotel, with one room infamous for a murder. While no longer operating due to structural issues, the hotel's past residents and paranormal investigators have documented various ghostly encounters, such as a visible child in a window and a disembodied touch on a person's shoulder. Investigators and guests have reported feeling a touch on their shoulder when no one else was around. Furniture in certain rooms has been known to move on its own, leading some to secure it to the floors and walls. One specific room is believed by some to be a spiritual "portal" for spirits to cross back and forth. A child has been seen in a window of the hotel. The hotel has a history of more than 20 deaths since its opening in 1928, contributing to its reputation for paranormal activity. The Ott Hotel was closed by the Liberty Fire Marshal in 2023 due to structural safety concerns, including rotted floors and faulty staircases.
