The Driskill Hotel in Austin is known as Texas's most haunted hotel, allegedly inhabited by around 90 spirits, including the hotel's founder, Colonel Jesse Driskill, and other tragic figures like a young girl named Samantha, who died falling down the stairs, and several jilted brides who committed suicide in their rooms. Guests and paranormal investigators have reported paranormal activity such as unseen footsteps, disembodied voices, cold spots, and malfunctioning electronics, with some believing the hotel was built on mineral water springs that foster spiritual activity. Colonel Jesse Driskill: The hotel's founder, a wealthy cattle baron, is said to be one of the most common spirits seen or felt within the hotel, sometimes appearing as a poltergeist with a penchant for smoking cigars. Samantha Houston: A four-year-old girl who died in 1887 after falling down the grand staircase while chasing a ball, her spirit is reportedly seen and heard playing with a ball. Her portrait hangs on the fifth floor, and some claim her expression can change. Multiple jilted brides are said to haunt the hotel. One famously committed suicide in her room after her wedding was called off, while another did the same in a different room. Guests have reported hearing the sound of a bouncing ball, distant voices, and inexplicable laughter. Electronic equipment is said to malfunction, and batteries drain quickly. Visitors have felt static electricity on their necks and scalps. Specters have been seen in various parts of the hotel, including the hallways and Room 525.
