The Baker Peters Mansion in Knoxville, Tennessee, is widely considered haunted, with reports of ghostly apparitions, disembodied touches, and unexplained activity, particularly centered around the spirits of Dr. Harvey Baker and his son, Abner Baker. The location, now home to Finn's Tavern and the Baker Peters Jazz Club, is said to be haunted by Civil War casualties and other spirits. Some believe the spirit of Dr. Baker, the house's builder who was killed by Union soldiers, still resides within the mansion. Abner Baker was hanged after a fight following the Civil War, and his spirit is said to appear on the staircase and around the property, even as a ghostly body swinging from the tree. Wounded soldiers from the Civil War were reportedly treated in the house and are believed by some to still linger there. People have reported experiences like: Tapping on heads or ears, Cold touches on the shoulder or a cold sensation, Objects moving on their own, lights turning on and off, and dropped glasses. Specific areas, such as the former nursery (now the green room), are said to be particularly active with spirits.
