Local legend says Glenmore Mansion in Jefferson City, Tennessee, is haunted by the spirits of its former inhabitants, including a grieving widow, her infant son, and two loyal granddaughters. Visitors have reported apparitions, disembodied noises, and a general feeling of a calming presence within the historic 27-room estate. Some visitors have reported seeing the reflection of an older woman in the mirrors throughout the home. A woman in white at the windows: Other guests have spotted the figure of a woman in white looking out the windows from an upstairs room, even when the mansion is closed. The ghost of a young girl has allegedly been seen wandering on the old Andrew Johnson Highway near the mansion late at night. The shadow of a woman is said to appear in the upstairs windows. Mysterious noises are sometimes heard coming from empty parts of the house, with some visitors also reporting a calming or friendly presence. After the mansion is locked up for the night, a light has been reported to randomly appear in the attic window. A long-told legend claims that the number of windows counted from the outside does not match the count from the inside.
