The Gaylord Opryland Resort is reportedly haunted by the ghost of Mrs. McGavock, a wealthy woman who died on the property and is known as the "Black Lady" due to her traditional antebellum attire and long black veil. Her spirit is said to appear in various areas, particularly the Magnolia Lobby, and is associated with unexplained phenomena like moving objects, random doors closing, and whispers. The ghost is often seen in a black, antebellum-style dress with a black veil. The Black Lady is seen in different parts of the hotel, including the Magnolia Lobby and elevators. Guests report hearing footsteps, moans, humming, and whispers. Objects may be misplaced, doors can slam shut on their own, and faucets might turn off or on unexpectedly. While the entire property is rumored to be active, the Magnolia Lobby is a frequent hotspot for paranormal encounters.
