Finn's Irish Restaurant & Tavern in Knoxville, Tennessee, is known for its haunted reputation due to its location in the historic Baker Peters House. Built in 1830, the house has a long and often tragic history, and paranormal activity has been reported there for many years. The antebellum house was originally the home of Dr. James Abney Baker, a Confederate sympathizer during the Civil War. He was murdered in the home in 1863, and his spirit is believed to be one of many lingering in the building. In the years since, the house has housed many businesses, including a jazz club and now the Irish tavern. In addition to Dr. Baker, mediums have claimed the restaurant is inhabited by about 15 spirits. According to one former co-owner, Jon Ferrie, the ghosts are mostly friendly, keeping the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Ferrie described experiencing a "cold spiral" of air that moved around his body. Others have felt tapping on their heads, ankles, or ears. Glassware and kegs have been known to move on their own. Lights have been reported to flicker. Whistling and laughter have been heard from unseen sources. Music has changed mysteriously. Objects have fallen off shelves without cause.
