Oyster Bay Restaurant, Deadwood
The Oyster Bay Restaurant is located in the historically haunted Fairmont Hotel building in Deadwood, South Dakota, and is known for its intense paranormal activity. Its history as a brothel, casino, and saloon has left behind a legacy of restless spirits, with the two upper floors considered so active they are no longer rented out. The restaurant itself is also a stop on local ghost tours. Wild Bill Hickok's killer, Jack McCall, is said to aggressively haunt the first floor of the building. Hickok was murdered right next door in 1876, and McCall is believed to have followed the spirit activity to this location. His ghost has reportedly been seen roaming the restaurant and is known to touch unsuspecting women. Margaret Broadwater: A beautiful young prostitute who worked in the building when it was a brothel. After suffering a broken heart, she drank heavily and eventually leapt to her death from a third-story window. Her friendly apparition has been seen wandering the building and has even been captured on film walking upstairs. She is also known to open and close doors. An aggressive and territorial male spirit, believed to be the victim of a rage-induced, accidental suicide. He has a strong aversion to change and has reportedly tormented construction workers attempting to renovate the third floor, ripping tools from their hands. His malevolent energy is so intense that this floor is kept closed. A boy who tragically died under mysterious circumstances is seen running through the building, darting between the bar chairs and slot machines. Staff and patrons report numerous unsettling events in the building, including strange tapping, disembodied voices, heavy footsteps, and unexplained noises coming from the closed-off upper floors. The energy is so dark and malevolent on the upper floors that visitors often report feeling uncomfortable or leaving quickly.
