Beth Elohim Cemetery, Georgetown
The Beth Elohim Cemetery in Georgetown, South Carolina, is said to be haunted by the ghost of Pauline Moses, who died in 1845. Her spirit, along with that of Eliza Munnerlyn from the nearby Prince George Winyah Churchyard, is believed to roam the grounds of the two cemeteries, which are located directly across the street from each other. Legend holds that Pauline Moses died of a broken heart and was buried in the Beth Elohim Cemetery. Her spirit is said to remain restless, unable to find peace even in death. According to local lore, Munnerlyn was Pauline's rival, and the two women's spirits continue their rivalry as they haunt their respective cemeteries. Both spirits are believed to appear in their burial gowns, forever walking the grounds in the dresses they wore to their graves. Some residents and paranormal enthusiasts believe the two spirits still walk among the living and continue to haunt the premises to this day.
