South Carolina State Museum, Columbia
The South Carolina State Museum is reportedly haunted by "Bubba the Ghost," a 14-year-old boy who died after being struck by a falling weight in an old textile mill's elevator shaft when the building was in operation. Witnesses have reported seeing his full apparition, or just his legs and boots, and even experiencing him in the elevator itself. The museum, which once housed the first electric cotton mill in the country, also has accounts of a less-defined "Lady in Black" ghost. A 14-year-old boy named Bubba was killed in an industrial elevator shaft when a 1,000-pound weight fell on him. He is said to appear as a full-body apparition or as just his legs and boots. Visitors and employees have reported seeing him and experiencing phenomena like rapid knocking on desks, which is attributed to his presence. A mysterious apparition described as the "Lady in Black". Her origins are less defined, but she was first reported when a visitor noticed a mannequin in a black dress in the hearse display.
