Poinsett Bridge, Landrum
Poinsett Bridge is described as a haunted location, with reported phenomena including unexplained lights and orbs, electronic interference, cars not starting, disembodied screams and voices, and figures seen walking the bridge, often associated with folklore about historical incidents like the drowning of a bridge worker, the hanging of a slave, or an entombed mason. The bridge is the oldest in South Carolina and the surrounding area is believed by some to connect to an ethereal plane. Sightings include orbs, floating lights, and mist-like figures. Some visitors have reported seeing soldiers, an older woman with long black hair, or people with old-fashioned lanterns. Screams and moans are heard, sometimes associated with a slave said to have been hanged from the bridge, according to one legend. Other sounds include disembodied voices or talking. Cars have reportedly had trouble starting after being at the bridge. Some report a feeling of being touched by a man's hand.
