The Old Village Post House, formerly known as Guilds Inn, is believed to be haunted by its previous owner, Captain Samuel Guilds. He is also said to move a portrait of himself that used to hang in the inn. According to the book Haunted Inns of the Southeast, the best time to potentially encounter Captain Guilds is during a full moon. Captain Guilds was a successful businessman in Mount Pleasant, known for running a tugboat company and supplying power to the town. The historical detail suggests a possible benevolent nature for the lingering spirit.
