The Abbeville Opera House is reportedly haunted by at least two spirits: a female actress who fell ill and died in town, and a construction worker who died during the building's construction. Sightings of the actress include an apparition in period dress applauding in the balcony and a figure seen in the hallways of the dressing rooms. The actress's presence is often tied to a designated seat in the third balcony, and it's believed negative events can occur if her seat is disturbed or the light left on for her goes out. The ghost of a construction worker is said to inhabit the backstage area, with reports of banging pipes and disappearing props. Believed to be an actress who died in town after falling ill on a train ride while touring with a theater company. Apparition seen in a period dress, sometimes leading a standing ovation in the balcony. A figure seen in hallways and dressing rooms. A designated, empty seat kept open in the third balcony for her. Disturbing her seat or turning off the light left on for her is thought to bring negative occurrences during performances, especially when someone is alone in the opera house at night. The Construction Worker: Died in a fall from the opera house's back wall in 1908 during its construction.
