The Accomac Inn is reputedly haunted by John Coyle Jr. and Emily Myers, who died on the property in 1881 when Coyle shot and killed her after she rejected his advances. Coyle had been harassing Myers, and she rejected his marriage proposal, leading him to shoot her. After shooting himself and surviving, Coyle was found guilty of murder and was hanged. His grave is reportedly located behind the Inn, while Myers is believed to be in an unmarked grave in Marietta.
