Aaron Burr House, New Hope
The Aaron Burr House in New Hope, Pennsylvania, is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of its namesake, Aaron Burr. Legend says that Burr hid in the original house on the site for about a week after his infamous 1804 duel with Alexander Hamilton. His restless spirit is believed to remain, with reported paranormal activity centering on the anxious energy of a man on the run. Some guests report the unsettling feeling of being watched, especially on the second floor, even when no one is there. Burr's specter has allegedly been seen roaming the house and peering around corners. Reportedly, his ghost likes to playfully tug on the clothes of guests he favors, as if to convince them not to leave the inn. Burr is often seen on the second-floor staircase, and some guests have felt a tug as they descend. A common joke among visitors is to say, "Mr. Burr, please let me leave" when attempting to go downstairs. The second floor, where Burr is said to have stayed in a room now known as "The Federalist Room," is considered a paranormal hotspot. Some guests have also reported an uneasy feeling on the third floor from a different, unknown entity.
