Merion Hall at Bryn Mawr College is famously haunted by the ghost of Lillian Vickers, a student who died in 1901 after a traumatic incident involving kerosene. Her spirit is said to manifest through random power outages, mysterious noises, open doors, and the sound of a woman singing from an empty room. Lillian Vickers was a popular student at Bryn Mawr who was supposed to have graduated in 1903. On December 20, 1901, Lillian died after suffering from burns. The circumstances of the accident remain unclear. Some accounts suggest Lillian was convinced she had leprosy and bathed in kerosene, leading to her robe catching fire and her death. The most frequent manifestation of Lillian's presence is unexplained power fluctuations. Residents have reported hearing strange noises, including a female voice singing from empty rooms. Doors in the dorm, particularly on the third floor where she is said to haunt, are sometimes found open without anyone there.
