The Welles House in Wilkes-Barre, PA, is considered one of America's most haunted locations, known as the "Amityville Horror house of Pennsylvania". It is the site of multiple unexplained deaths, suicides, and unexplained illnesses. Reported phenomena include disembodied sounds like moans, screams, and footsteps, the spontaneous appearance of blood spots on walls, and physical attacks such as unexplained scratches on residents' bodies. Paranormal investigators, including Ed and Lorraine Warren, have investigated the property, noting an ongoing, malevolent presence. Residents have reported hearing unexplained bangs, cries, moans, shrieks, and footsteps coming from inside the walls and attic. Ghostly apparitions have been reported, including a well-dressed man with a cane and the ghost of a young girl. There have also been accounts of bloody spots appearing on walls and floors. Residents have experienced inexplicable physical ailments and feelings of depression. In one documented instance, a child was reportedly pushed down the stairs but floated unhurt to the bottom. Others have described groups of three scratches appearing on their bodies, and there have been reports of a general stench of decay.
