Uppertown Firefighters Museum, Astoria
The Uppertown Firefighters Museum in Astoria is said to be haunted by a sleepwalking fireman who fell to his death in the 1920s. Visitors and ghost hunters report that his spirit continues to wander the third floor of the building, still on watch decades after his death. The story behind the haunting is connected to one of Astoria's devastating fires: One of the two historic fires in Astoria, which occurred in 1883 and 1922, is said to have set the stage for the tragedy. A firefighter, possibly exhausted from battling one of the great fires, was sleepwalking when he fell from the building's third floor. His ghost is now believed to be confined to that same floor, where he performs his final, eternal duties as a watchman.
