Pittock Mansion, Portland
Pittock Mansion is reportedly haunted by the Pitt family, with paranormal activities including phantom footsteps, disembodied voices, the scent of roses (attributed to Georgiana Pittock), slamming windows, and a moving portrait of Henry Pittock. The mansion is said to be visited by ghostly groundskeepers and other apparitions, with some spirits even rearranging furniture and objects. Visitors and staff often report the distinct scent of roses in the mansion, especially in the upper rooms, believed to be the lingering presence of Georgiana Pittock. Ghostly footsteps and the sound of a shovel hitting the ground are frequently heard, possibly belonging to a groundskeeper spirit. A portrait of Henry Pittock is said to move around the house, and other reports describe furniture, pictures, and plants being shifted by unseen forces. Guests have witnessed windows opening and closing on their own, and lights being turned back on after staff attempted to leave the mansion at night. Some accounts mention human-like shapes moving objects and a woman in a long gown picking up a fallen picture. The spirits are not considered malevolent and are even thought by some to be welcoming newcomers to the mansion.
