The O'Kane Building in Bend, Oregon, is a historic landmark known for reported hauntings tied to its original builder, Hugh O'Kane . Though the initial O'Kane building—a saloon—burned down in 1905, later structures on or near the site are associated with paranormal activity. Hauntings and eerie occurrences include: The ghost of Hugh O'Kane is said to haunt the historic downtown building he constructed. O'Kane's initial saloon was located on the corner of Oregon and Bond Streets, where the first fire in Bend was reported in 1905. Over the years, workers and visitors have claimed to hear disembodied whispers and strange sounds inside the building. Construction workers have reported that their tools were mysteriously unplugged by an unseen presence while working in the building. A stairwell in the building is said to be watched by a lurking presence. Reports from late at night describe an old red ski lift chair inside the building rocking back and forth on its own, as if someone were sitting there.
