The Hood River Hotel, the oldest inn in Hood River, Oregon, is rumored to be haunted by a former owner, with reports including disembodied footsteps, phantom phone calls, doors opening on their own, and a ghostly cowboy. While one guest reported extreme panic and terror in Room 310, which they were unable to enter, the hotel embraces its ghostly lore, maintaining a "ghost log" for guests to share their experiences. Guests have reported hearing disembodied footsteps and phantom phone calls when the reception desk is unattended. Doors are said to open and close by themselves, and some believe a resident ghost turns doorknobs several times a day. A spectral figure of a cowboy has been seen touching guests' feet and even pulling out a revolver. A particularly intense experience was reported in Room 310, with a guest describing overwhelming terror and an inability to breathe after attempting to enter the room. A guest mentioned a vision of a cowboy looming over a bed and strange sounds from the ceiling of Room 428.
