Franklin Castle, Cleveland
Franklin Castle is widely considered the most haunted house in Ohio, with a grim history of unexplained deaths and macabre rumors that fuel stories of restless spirits. From the ghosts of its original owners to tales of secret passages and hidden atrocities, the mansion is the subject of countless paranormal accounts. The castle was built by German immigrant Hannes Tiedemann in the 1880s for his family, but was marked by immense tragedy, with nearly all his family members dying inside. The Lady in Black: This is believed to be the ghost of Tiedemann's wife, Luise. She has been seen as a dark, shadowy figure in the castle and is known for looking out of the windows. The Girl in White: This is said to be the ghost of Emma, the Tiedemanns' 15-year-old daughter who died in the house. She is most often seen standing at an upstairs window. Children playing in the house have also reported seeing a little girl crying upstairs. Guests and residents have reported experiencing numerous disembodied noises and chilling physical sensations. The sound of babies crying has been reported coming from inside the walls. One resident recalled hearing the sound of someone running up and down the stairs followed by giggling, despite being alone in the house. The sounds of organ music have been heard even after the instrument was removed from the mansion. Luise Tiedemann's bedroom was famously known as "the cold room," with temperatures noticeably lower than the rest of the house. Some visitors to the turret room have reported feeling a sensation of being choked.
