Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Wright Patterson
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base's hauntings are often described as spirits of fallen military personnel, especially those who died in plane crashes or accidents, manifesting as unexplained noises, apparitions, and moving objects near historical aircraft at the Air Force Museum. The "Lady Be Good" B-17, the "Black Mariah" helicopter, and Buildings 70 and 219 on the base are frequently cited locations for paranormal activity, including disembodied voices, shadowy figures, and an older woman and a young boy's spirits. The phenomena are so well-known that the Sci-Fi Channel's Ghost Hunters investigated the base, documenting reports of paranormal occurrences. US Air Force Museum: The artifacts, particularly the "Black Mariah" helicopter and "Lady Be Good" B-17, are believed to attract the spirits of their former crews. Visitors have reported hearing voices, moans, and even being touched by unseen forces. Buildings 70 & 219: During its investigation, Ghost Hunters focused on these two buildings on the base proper, where workers reported apparitions of an older woman and a little boy, along with other strange occurrences in the warehouse and office areas. The "Lady Be Good" B-17: This B-17, which crashed in the desert and was recovered decades later, is said to be haunted by the ghosts of its crew, who may still be found in the plane at the museum. Visitors and personnel have reported hearing disembodied voices, laughter (especially that of a little girl), and moans. Lights turning on and off, and doors opening or closing on their own are common reports, as are feelings of cold spots and being watched. The spirits of deceased pilots and crew members, a little girl, and an older woman are said to appear in various locations on the base and in the museum. There are anecdotal reports of people being "decked" by an apparition out of control and feeling a hand on their back when alone. The television show Ghost Hunters investigated Wright-Patterson in 2008, marking the first time the show investigated an active military installation.n
