The Mudhouse Mansion in Fairfield County, Ohio, was rumored to be haunted by a woman who killed her children, a story linked to the "Bloody Mary" legend, though some locals and former residents denied any real paranormal activity, attributing the stories to folklore or the house's deteriorated state. Other less common theories included stories of a slave uprising and mass suicide by hanging. The mansion, known for its abandoned state and the ghost stories surrounding it, was demolished in 2015. The most prominent legend claims the house was the original home of the woman from the "Bloody Mary" folklore, a spirit believed to have murdered her own children. Another local tale suggested the house was once owned by a government official who kept slaves, and that one of these slaves later killed the entire family. A less common story suggested a mass suicide by hanging had occurred on the property.
