Grove Park Inn, Asheville
The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina, is famously haunted by the "Pink Lady," a benevolent and mischievous ghost who has reportedly roamed the historic hotel for nearly a century. She is said to be the spirit of a young woman who died at the hotel in the 1920s. The story holds that in the 1920s, a young woman fell, jumped, or was pushed to her death from a balcony on the fifth floor, landing two floors below in the hotel's Palm Court atrium. Her spirit is often described as appearing as a gentle, dense pink mist. Some guests claim to have seen a full apparition of a woman in a pink ball gown. Room 545: While the Pink Lady has been seen all over the inn, she is particularly attached to Room 545, which is believed to be the room she was staying in when she died. The Pink Lady is thought to be a kind spirit, and children seem to see her most often. Stories describe her playing with sick children, comforting them by stroking their hands. Guests and staff have reported her playing pranks, like turning lights and air conditioners on and off or rearranging objects in rooms. Some have even reported being woken up by their feet being tickled.
