The Carolina Theatre in Greensboro, NC is considered haunted due to reports of paranormal activity linked to a 1981 fire and the death of a woman named Melvaleene Reeva Ferguson, whose spirit is believed to remain in the building. Visitors report experiencing odd occurrences like flickering lights and moving seats, and some stories include a female figure in the mezzanine and the presence of a young boy named Mikey who kicks a ball. The primary alleged haunting is linked to a woman who died in the theatre in 1981. Melvaleene Reeva Ferguson hid in the theatre after closing and died in a fire that broke out. Her body was discovered in a stairwell, and it is widely believed she set the fire herself. Her spirit is believed to be the main one haunting the theatre. Visitors have reported seeing the spirit of Melvaleene Ferguson walking the mezzanine and disappearing into the back wall, as well as experiencing lights flickering and seats moving. Another reported spirit is that of a young boy named Mikey, who is said to run around and kick a ball. He is believed to have once played in a field where the theater was built. A construction worker who fell from scaffolding during the theater's construction is also said to be present. His walking and the clanking of his tools have been heard. Some reports mention a face appearing in a gap between the curtain and the wall. The first time someone saw this, the curtain began to move.
