Brunswick Inn, Southport
The Old Brunswick Inn in Southport, NC is reportedly haunted by the benevolent spirit of Antonio Caseletta, a 19-year-old harpist who drowned in 1882 during a sailing accident shortly after starting his job at the inn. Caseletta's spirit is said to manifest by playing his harp, hiding small items like hairbrushes and jewelry, and slamming shut open windows. While some legends suggest he continued to play his harp after his death, other accounts depict his pranks, such as moving underwear and unlocking suitcases. Antonio Caseletta was a young Italian musician who came to Southport in 1882 to play the harp at the Hotel Brunswick. He drowned in a boating accident on the night of his first performance. His harp music can be heard in the middle of the night, especially during moonlit nights. He is known to hide small objects, move underwear, and even slam shut open windows. Some stories mention objects like hairbrushes, jewelry, and even a locked suitcase being involved in his pranks. The Brunswick Inn is now a private residence.
