The Bellamy Mansion in Wilmington, North Carolina, is widely believed to be haunted by members of the Bellamy family and their servants. The antebellum house is an active historical museum, but visitors and paranormal investigators have reported unsettling experiences, including apparitions, strange noises, and paranormal phenomena. Several accounts mention ghostly figures appearing throughout the mansion. One former volunteer has a long-standing "lady in grey" story, claiming many people have seen a forlorn ghost wandering the rooms of the main house. A visitor to the top floor also reported seeing a female figure out of the corner of their eye in the nursery area, only to find no one there. Visitors and paranormal investigators have reported hearing unexplained noises, such as footsteps, bangs, and doors slamming without cause. Paranormal research teams claim to have captured EVPs—electronic recordings of disembodied voices—during their investigations of the property. According to one ghost tour guide, some people claim to have recurring dreams about the house involving a man with dark hair, a man with a pistol, and a glowing green light.
