St. Andrew's Church on Staten Island is considered haunted due to its history as a Revolutionary War hospital and includes reports of apparitions of soldiers, disembodied voices, unexplained knocks and screams, and flickering candles. The paranormal activity is so notable it was featured on an episode of the TV show Ghost Hunters. Some visitors and paranormal investigators have recorded electronic voice phenomena (EVP) and witnessed large shadows moving within the chapel. The church served as a hospital during the American Revolution, leading to reports of ghostly apparitions, often described as a drummer boy, in the graveyard. Witnesses have reported hearing disembodied voices, unexplained knocks, footsteps, and screams, particularly at night. Apparitions of long-dead soldiers, children, and even a sea captain have been reported. Ghostly balls of light and phantom nooses have also been documented in photographs taken at the site. Candles have been observed flickering or, in one case, appearing to hang by themselves. The church's reputation for paranormal activity led to an investigation by the T.A.P.S. (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) team from Ghost Hunters, who recorded strange noises and witnessed shadows move during the taping. During an Electronic Voice Phenomena session, team members heard noises and called out to spirits, and the activity appeared to move closer to them. Some visitors have reported feeling a sense of being watched or experiencing strange sounds and sensations that caused them to leave.
