Jackson's Garden on the Union College campus in Schenectady, NY, is said to be haunted by the ghost of Alice Van der Veer, a 17-year-old allegedly burned at the stake in a mob-driven incident over 300 years ago. The legend claims her spirit reappears on the first full moon of summer, and visitors and staff have reported unusual happenings like sudden winds and an overall eerie atmosphere attributed to her presence. Alice Van der Veer and her father were allegedly caught by a furious mob. Her father was burned at the stake, and the mob then found and burned Alice to death as well. Her ghost is said to reappear in Jackson's Garden on the first full moon of summer. Students and college staff have reported eerie phenomena, such as: Sudden and unexplained winds and other strange occurrences and unusual circumstances in the garden.
