The Ear Inn is known for being one of NYC's oldest and most haunted establishments, located in the historic James Brown House. The most famous resident ghost is Mickey the Sailor, a regular who reputedly drank himself to death on a bar stool and now continues to haunt the premises by "stealing" sips from patrons' drinks and prodding waitresses. Other rumored spirits include former patrons, sailors who loved the bar, and even courtesans. Mickey the Sailor: A sailor who spent most of his time and money at the bar. He is said to have died from alcohol poisoning while on a bar stool, though some accounts suggest he stumbled onto the street and was hit by a car. Thirsty for a drink, he is believed to steal sips from patrons' glasses. He is also known to prod waitresses and sometimes interfere with female guests. The spirits of excessive drinkers who died at the bar are said to remain. Other sailors who cherished the bar during their time on shore are also thought to linger. The spirits of courtesans have also been reported between worlds within the building.
