The Amityville Horror House is described as a location of intense paranormal activity, where the Lutz family reported experiencing a range of phenomena, including swarms of flies, cold spots, slime oozing from walls, phantom voices, objects moving on their own, levitation, and the sighting of a demon pig, after the prior mass murder of the DeFeo family in the home. The haunting reportedly began shortly after the Lutzes moved in and drove them out after only 28 days, leaving all their possessions behind. In 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murdered his parents and four siblings inside the house. In December 1975, one year later, George and Kathleen Lutz bought the house, and their 28-day stay became the foundation for the book and movie The Amityville Horror. The family experienced swarms of flies, foul odors, inexplicable cold spots, and green slime oozing from walls and toilets. The Lutzes claimed to have seen a pig-like creature with red eyes, shadowy figures, and a demon with white, peaked hood. They reported hearing sinister whispers, screams, and even a distinct voice telling the family to "Get out!" during a house blessing by a priest. The family claimed toilets turned black, and they witnessed themselves and their belongings levitating off the ground. The Lutz family fled the home on January 14, 1976, leaving everything behind.
