Espanola Police Station, EspaƱola
The Espanola Police Station in New Mexico became known for alleged paranormal activity after 2014 surveillance footage captured a ghostly, translucent figure walking through a locked gate and a secure sally port. Other incidents include officers reporting unexplained feelings, noises, and odd images in the station's lobby, though the building is relatively new and not on a known burial ground, suggesting the activity may stem from unsolved murders in the surrounding area. In 2014, a security camera recorded a human-like, but transparent and blurry, figure. The figure appeared to move directly through a locked gate and a secured sally port, an area with no logical entry or exit point without alarms sounding. Officer Karl Romero initially mistook the figure for an insect, but then saw it had legs and a human shape, leading him to believe it was a ghost. Some officers have reported feeling as if someone was breathing down their necks. Officers have also heard strange noises and seen unexplainable images in the station lobby. While the building is not ancient and no inmates have died there, some believe the phenomena might be connected to the unsolved murders that have occurred in the nearby community.
