The Union Hotel in Flemington, New Jersey, has a long history of paranormal activity, with sightings and strange events reported by former guests and staff. The hotel's connection to the famous 1932 Lindbergh kidnapping trial has also fueled some of the ghost stories. While recently renovated, the building's lingering haunted reputation remains. One of the most persistent ghost stories involves the spirit of a young girl. The figure of a little girl has been seen by staff and visitors, particularly in the hotel's stairwell. Some eyewitnesses report seeing a pair of empty, black patent-leather children's shoes walking up the stairs on their own. Some legends connect this ghost to the Lindbergh kidnapping, speculating it could be the spirit of the murdered baby who was taken from the nearby Lindbergh estate. Employees have claimed to hear and see young children running around the hotel late at night when no guests were present. The sound of a lullaby has been heard humming on the upper floors. A bouncer reported seeing the front doors fly wide open shortly after he had locked and secured them for the night. Some staff members have described an unexplained sense of pressure on their chest and the feeling of a presence near them. Mysterious, chilling cold spots have been noted throughout the building.
