The Absecon Lighthouse is described as extremely haunted due to reported paranormal activity, including the sound of a girl's laughter, ghostly footsteps, unexplained closing and opening of doors, and electronic voice phenomena (EVPs) like a voice saying "Not, am not" and another saying "I like you". A photo from a paranormal investigation appeared to capture legs descending the stairs, and unexplained huffing and puffing sounds have also been reported. Visitors and investigators have reported hearing the sounds of a young girl's laughter, mysterious footsteps, and "huffing and puffing". An investigator captured an image showing a pair of legs coming down the stairs, which then appeared to step back upon noticing the investigators. Paranormal investigators have documented EVPs, including a female voice that responded "Not, am not" when asked if a presence knew they were dead, and another female voice saying, "I like you". A door leading to the causeway at the lighthouse has been observed opening and closing by itself.
