The Guggenheim Memorial Library at Monmouth University is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of Leonie Guggenheim, who owned the mansion with her husband, Murry Guggenheim. The ghost of Leonie Guggenheim: The most notable story claims that Leonie Guggenheim's spirit, often described as a "Woman in White," walks down the library's grand staircase promptly at midnight, after the building has closed to the public. The library is housed in the former Guggenheim estate, a mansion built in 1905. After Leonie's death in 1959, the family sold the property to Monmouth College (now Monmouth University). According to the legend, her ghost continues to reside in her former home. While the stories of Leonie are the most prominent, some students and faculty have also reported other unexplained phenomena in the library, as noted in paranormal accounts from sources like Weird NJ.
