Prospect Hill Cemetery is described as haunted by reports of a mysterious "woman in white" from the 1870s, though the cemetery's most prominent figure, the businesswoman Anna Wilson, is not typically associated with paranormal legends, but rather her unique grave features. The story of the ghost involves her vanishing into the cemetery after being seen at a certain grave. An 1874 article in the Omaha Daily Bee detailed a spectral figure, often referred to as the "woman in white". The ghost was reportedly seen vanishing into the cemetery after being followed by men to a particular grave site. The legend suggests the ghost reappeared a few nights later, frightening the men so much they sought refuge downtown. While not a "haunted" figure, Anna Wilson, a wealthy and charitable businesswoman, is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Her grave is known for its unique design, including a large marble slab and being nine feet deep with concrete, as specified in her will. Visitors often leave yellow roses at her grave.
