According to local legends, Rudge Memorial Park (also known as Lake Street Lake Park) in Lincoln, Nebraska, is considered haunted. Tales of a young boy's ghost and other apparitions in the park have circulated for years. The park was formerly a dairy farm and a lake before it was drained. The most prominent story is that the park is haunted by the ghost of a young boy who was allegedly killed by bullies when the area was still a lake. In 1974, a person reportedly saw a vaporous apparition float away from the island in the lake. Apparitions are also said to be seen in the winter near the creek. Another tale suggests that the park is haunted by ghosts of people who died when the area was still a lake. It's said that some of these spirits remained after the lake was drained. While unusual, some accounts also mention the spirits of deceased squirrels.
